5 SKIN CARE MUSTS

I am super excited about this post friends! It’s my very first guest author on the blog – and she happens to be my esthetician, hair and lash magic lady – AND my sister. Does anyone else’s skin absolutely panic at the change of just about anything? Seasons, air, make-up and face products? (pick me!) . I’ve struggled with adult acne well, as long as I’ve been an adult. I’ve tried everything – seriously, from over the counter products, ProActiv and even prescription Accutane. When my sister finished her schooling she got me on a serious skin care regime that has changed my life. Now, this might sound extreme – but if you’ve had acne – you know how it affects your self confidence. And while it may sound silly to some – I seriously struggled with how much I felt like my acne affected my life. I didn’t want to go out when I had a bad breakout, (which was almost always) – and I wore way too much makeup to try and keep it covered up. I asked my amazingly talented sister to write up FIVE skin care musts. She uses the Image Skin Care line herself and for her clients – and from personal experience, this stuff is amazing. She’s linked some of her favorite products here with some great information – so I’ll let her take over from here …

️Let’s talk SUNSCREEN! Whether you’re having a pool day, doing yard work or just enjoying your mid-day coffee outside, sunscreen should be on the top of your to-do list. There are two types of sunscreens, chemical and physical. Chemical feels like a lotion and absorbs into the skin. They are not ideal for acne prone or sensitive skin and they take about 30 minutes to be effective. Physical sunscreen sits on the surface of the skin to deflect the suns rays and works immediately. Look for a sunscreen with ZINC listed in the active ingredients and with an SPF of 30 or higher. Don’t forget to reapply it throughout the day!!

MOISTURIZE! MOISTURIZE! MOISTURIZE! If you live in Utah (like me & @red.front.door) you know how dry and harsh the air can feel. There is nothing like a good moisturizer on your face, neck and chest. Something anti-aging is always a good choice – no matter your age, but any non-comedogenic (won’t clog your pores!) moisturizer will work. Find one that feels good on your skin so you’ll be sure to use it! Linking two other favorites here also – this one (smells amazing) and this one.

DON’T NEGLECT YOUR NECK! Your neck and decollete want some love too. Both areas – along with your face – are more delicate and sensitive than other skin on your body. Washing, moisturizing and applying sunscreen can help prevent premature wrinkles/fine lines and sun/age spots. Another favorite here.

EXFOLIATE! This doesn’t mean you have to take a Brillo pad to your face.  Gently exfoliating your face and neck can help remove dead skin and environmental/chemical buildup. This helps prevent acne, blackheads, aging, fine lines and wrinkles. Pretty much all the things we don’t want. It’s a win win!

TREAT YOUR SKIN TO HEALTHY FOODS AND PLENTY OF WATER! The better you eat, the better you feel, the better your skin feels! Also, drinking enough water can help “plump” your skin and lips, giving you a fuller, more youthful appearance. Hydrated skin is HAPPY skin!

I have linked my favorite Image Skincare products (my brand of choice) and would LOVE to help you find the right fit for YOU! Head over to @beautybybryndib on Instagram and slide into those DM’s for any skincare, hair care, eyelash or general beauty questions.
